On the 9 th of November, at Sustainability Trust building in Te-Whanganui-a-
Tara, Collaborative Aotearoa and the Social Change Collective held a
workshop on Collective Community Action. Jazz Grewal (she/her)
Programme Director - Collective Action with Communities discussed the
framework and principles that underpin successful community engagement.
Alex Nicholas (she/her) -Community Organising for Wellbeing Specialist,
followed by sharing examples and lessons around her engagement approach
in advancing equity for Māori, Pacific and marginalised communities in health
and education. The presenters engaged with participants regarding their
engagement strategies in their own mahi and discussed the importance of
intrinsically operating within the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and sharing
power with communities to enhance decision making and achieve equitable
outcomes.
