Local Elections: Understanding Your Vote: Tāmaki Makaurau - September 2022

Our September 2022 event in Tāmaki Makaurau looked at Local Elections: Understanding Your Vote and was hosted by Ma’aola Saminatoto Milovale Ioane (Ola).

This workshop style event was centred around unconscious bias and the role it plays in influencing our behaviour and perceptions. In the lead up to the local elections, understanding our own inherent biases and the way these influence our vote was especially relevant.

Ola is the General Manager of Diversity Works New Zealand. With a wealth of experience, warm presence, and sharp wit, Ola was a fantastic host and teacher for this event. Together, we unpacked the concept of unconscious bias, ways to recognise bias, and how to question our assumptions.
