Special Courts

We all want to see a criminal justice system that is fair and effective.

But what do we know about what that looks like in practice?

The Special Circumstances Court is an innovative and exciting initiative that has been in operation in Wellington since 2011. The Court connects defendants to community agencies to address underlying issues, such as homelessness and addiction, that drive people into the justice system.

This was a joint event between the Social Change Collective and JustSpeak to learn more about the Special Courts, hear from people working on the front-line, and join the conversation about transformational change in our criminal justice system.
