The Future of Wellington - Te-Whanganui-a-Tara - September 2022

The Future of Wellington.

On the 21st of September we had an amazing time hosting our Te Whanganui-a-Tara council candidates for this event! A big thank you to Jonathan Coppard, Luana Scowcroft, Iona Pannett, Lachlan Patterson, and Nikau Wi Neera for joining us for the kōrero! We had great discussions covering four key areas:

  1. Housing

  2. Waste Management

  3. Water

  4. Social Inclusivity

People were most animated on the discussions around Social Inclusion and Waste Management. The back and forth between the audience and our candidates was awesome and helped to build a picture of what the future of Wellington could be!

Youth Governance: Aotearoa needs more young people on Boards, want to be one of them?

Jonathan Coppard attended our Youth Governance Workshops. It was great to hear how these workshops highlighted that young people have the opportunity to be a part of change and supported his decision to run for his electorate.

Finally - voting is now OPEN! Local Government has a massive impact on everything from our day-to-day lives to the most pressing global challenges we face today - many of which have local solutions that will play a key role over the years to come. Get out there and have your say!

Thank you again for attending this Social Change Collective event and for taking action on issues you care about. We look forward to seeing you at the next one.

Ngā mihi,

The Social Change Collective
