November's event in Wellington was Visions for a Future Health System hosted at the Creative HQ Event Hub.
The window for transforming the health system is wide open as the government considers both its immediate response to COVID and its longer-term reform agenda following the Health & Disability System Review, the Waitangi Tribunal's landmark kaupapa inquiry into the health system, and ballooning fiscal pressures both now and as the population ages.
The evening's discussion tackled some big questions about our health care system in Aotearoa, with a wide range of stances from our panelists.
The speaker line-up was:
- Dr. Lesley Middleton – Senior Lecturer, Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington
- Janell Dymus-Kurei – National Co-ordinator, Hapai Te Hauora - Maori Public Health
- Jeff Lowe – Chair, GPNZ
- Louis Houlbrooke – Campaigns Manager, NZ Taxpayer’s Union
Social Change Collective's trustee Joanna Lambert was the MC for the evening.
